International Youth Movement sponsored by Rise for Pakistan organized a stall during the annual convention of Anjuman Muzareen Punjab, held in Khanewal on Sunday, February seventeen, two thousand thirteen. Introductory brochures as well as Jawad Ahmad’s book was distributed. The Rise for Pakistan staff answered the questions from the those who showed interest in becoming members of IYM.
Anjuman Mazareen is an organization fighting for the rights of the Muzareens for the last several years. More than three thousand people attended the event. Many workers unions also were present to show their solidarity with the peasants.
Ghulam Abbas, president of the organization, addressed the audience and talked about the history, aims and purposes of the organization. He also articulated the difficulties they had to face in pursuing their goals.
Jawad Ahmad, the chairperson of IYM and Rise for Pakistan also address the audience briefly. He filmed the video of his new song about the peasants based on Faiz Ahmad Faiz’s Punjabi poem, "Uth Utaan Noon Jatta”. Video will be released in a few weeks, which will be used to raise awareness about the rights and importance of the peasants.
